Property developer Richard Hayward has been forced to repay his insurance company £65,000 after the Court of Appeal ruled that Norwich Union was right to reject a claim for the theft of his car.
Hayward left the keys in the ignition of his Porsche on the A48 near Cardiff, Wales.
The High Court had ruled in October 1999 that his claim was eligible but he must now return the money which had been previously paid into his account.
