Three companies are thought to be leading the chase for the Ark in Hammersmith, W6.
Computer company EDS, web giant AOL and Ernst & Young subsidiary Cap Gemini are poised to become embroiled in a three-way fight for the 13,666 sq m (141,000 sq ft) building.
Canadian conglomerate Seagram decided to leave the west London landmark last September following its £19bn merger with French company Vivendi. The newly named Vivendi Universal is understood to be looking to consolidate its numerous London-wide holdings into one building.
A source close to the negotiations said: “Jones Lang LaSalle has been looking to dispose of Seagrams space since October. In the current climate of little supply and enormous demand, it is no surprise that there has been a lot of interest.”
It is thought the space was let to Seagram at £248 per sq m (£23 per sq ft) in 1996. That would rise to £377-£430 per sq m (£35-£40 per sq ft) under a new deal.
JLLs Phillip Howells said: “We are continuing to market the space, which remains fully available.”
Vail Williams is advising EDS, while AOL is being represented by Allsop & Co.
