Urban Splash dealt Manchester Cardroom lead developer status

Urban Splash has been appointed lead developer for the regeneration of the 10.11ha (25-acre) Cardroom Millennium Community site in east Manchester.

The Manchester-based company was chosen from a shortlist of four to work in tandem with residents and other stakeholders on proposals for the Ancoats site, located next to Manchester city centre. The site comprises the Cardroom Estate, the former Ancoats Hospital, the former St Jude’s primary school and a disused industrial site.

Local residents, representatives from English Partnerships, Manchester council, DETR and New East Manchester/Ancoats Urban Village Company voted for Urban Splash.

Tom Bloxham, chairman of Urban Splash, said: “We are clear that our role is as lead developer, not sole developer. We shall be working with others who share our vision and commitment to make the Cardroom Millennium Community one of the best examples of living in the 21st century.”
