Tourism slams govt for cutting long-term grants

The tourism industry has accused the government of kicking it when its down.

The industry claims ministers have frozen its subsidies for the next five years resulting in an overall decline.

They say the extra help promised in the wake of foot-and-mouth has been slow in coming and is less than anticipated. Janet Anderson, tourism minister, said extra cash would be on its way within days.
