The Welsh Development Agency’s (WDA) Land Division has made its most lucrative land deal to date, with the £9m sale of a 5.7ha (14-acre) site at Penarth near Cardiff to David Wilson Homes.
David Wilson Homes is to build 400 houses on the site, in a development that will include community open space and a new primary school. The WDA said the site at Cogan Hall, close to Cosmeston Country Park, had been put on the market because demand for housing land in the area was outstripping supply.
David Wilson Homes has recently developed sites at Langstone near Newport and St Mellon’s near Cardiff.
“This (acquisition) provides an excellent opportunity to enlarge our presence in South Wales,” said Tony Taylor, David Wilson’s managing director for the South West region.
