Warner Estate Holdings has won planning consent for a £5m refurbishment of its 18,580 sq m (200,000 sq ft) Port Arcades shopping centre, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
The first phase will see the creation of a 1,860 sq m (20,000 sq ft) retail unit and 1,490 sq m (16,000 sq ft) of space on the first floor for leisure facilities. The refurbishment’s second and third phases will provide 5,190 sq m (55,840 sq ft) of new retail space.
Advanced talks with two potential tenants are already in progress.
Nick Legat, a partner at the Chester-based letting agent Legat Owen, said: “Since June 2000 we have brought Claires Accessories, Warren James Jewllers, QS and The Works into Port Arcades and we are refurbishing two more units.”
Anchor tenants are TJ Hughes, Littlewoods, Argos, Peacocks and Home Bargain. Current rents are around £45 zone A.
