Doughty Hanson poaches Morgan Stanley high-flyer

Former DTZ high-flyer James Max (pictured) has joined private equity fund manager Doughty Hanson.

Max, who has spent the past three years as an investment banker in Morgan Stanleys real estate division, will be responsible for property acquisitions and disposals in the UK and on the Continent. He will also be involved with refinancing assets and developing Doughty Hansons property investment strategy.

Max said: “I am delighted to be working at Doughty Hanson. It is already a major force in European real estate, but has the capacity to grow enormously as well.”

At 28, Max was DTZs youngest partner until he was poached by Morgan Stanley in 1998, where he worked on the Morgan Stanley Real Estate fund and on its European Loan Conduit securitisation issues.

Doughty Hanson is one of Europes largest independent fund managers. Its real estate fund has raised £600m of equity.
