DTZ Debenham Tie Leung has beaten off fierce competition from top City agents to win a prime letting instruction.
Swiss Re has appointed DTZ as letting agents for its new headquarters tower building (pictured), which is under development at St Mary Axe, EC3.
The news will come as a bitter blow to Knight Frank, which acted as the initial acquiring agent and was widely expected to be retained as letting agent. A senior source at a rival agent said: “The market will be surprised to learn that Knight Frank has not even got joint agency – one has to say that they had done a very good job for the client.”
Construction of the 41-storey Foster & Partners building started in January and is scheduled for practical completion at the end of 2003. Swiss Re occupies offices in five locations in the City and will start to relocate to the new building on a phased basis from early 2004.
Details of the space available through DTZ, led by director and head of central London agency John Forrester, will be confirmed at the end of the year.
