Tesco is looking for more sites for its small Tesco Express Stores.
It has 45 attached to Esso petrol stations and plans 150 linked to filling stations by 2003. It is seeking standalone locations for more. It is also opening two new distribution centres in Daventry, Northamptonshire and Thurrock, in Essex. New Extra hypermarkets are planned. The chain will have more space overseas than in the UK by 2003
The company said it was Britains biggest property company “by a street”, in answer to concerns of some analysts that it had too much debt.
