The 240,000 sq ft (22,296 sq m) Lisburn Square development in Northern Ireland – the only shopping complex to open in the province this year – has filled 21of its 28 units.
UK pub chain JD Wetherspoon plans to open an 11,265 sq ft (1,046 sq m) pub at the scheme in January as one of three mini anchors in the development. Two other mini-anchors, each strategically spaced at opposite ends of the square, are Next with 11,420 sq ft, and Argos with 12,335 sq ft.
Ellen Hillen, manager of the Square, said that the remaining units, which range between 400 sq ft (37 sq m) and 1,500 sq ft (139 sq m), may interest tenants which can offer complementary uses, particularly music and book stores, opticians, greeting cards outlets and newsagents.
The project – one of the first urban renewal developments in a Northern Ireland town centre – also offers 210 underground parking spaces.
Brian Henning chief executive of developer Cusp, said that Lisburn’s population is expected to more than double from 80,000 to 200,000 in the next 10 years.
