Borders Group, the US-based book & music retailer, has chosen a site in Cornwall for its new 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) UK distribution centre.
South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) contribute £1.82m to the cost of the centre. The remaining £1.69m will come from the European Regional Development Fund, under Objective One.
The Michigan-based company operates 10 Borders stores and 36 Books etc outlets in the UK and plans to expand further in this country.
Borders intends to open the St Columb Major distribution centre this summer, replacing its base 24 miles away at Penryn, also in Cornwall.
