Welsh mansion set for new media makeover

An historic Welsh mansion is to be converted into a £9.7m, 28,000 sq ft (2,600 sq m) complex (pictured) housing new media industries.

Details will be announced in Cannes today at Milia 2002, Europe’s largest international media exhibition.

Hi-tech business space provider Hartham Park is teaming up with the Welsh Development Agency to create the Media Technium complex at Gelli Aur Mansion, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. The Georgian mansion and outbuildings will be converted over the next three years to provide space for 30 businesses.

The scheme has been promised £3m of European aid under the Objective One programme.

Hartham Park operates Corsham Media Park in Wiltshire, a former MOD site covering 42 acres with 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m) of offices and 1m sq ft (92,900 sq m) of underground storage.

Chairman Jeffrey Thomas said: “The Hartham Park philosophy is to provide a special working environment where talented people can realise their ambitions.”
