CBI Scotland responds to business rates proposal

The Confederation of British Industry Scotland has attacked recommendations from a Holyrood committee that business rates should be set by councils, rather than the Scottish Executive.

It warned the proposals risked a return to “high, unreasonable and uncompetitive” rate levels.

However, it said it did not object to local authorities retaining some of the business rate income raised in their jurisdictions.
