DTLR unit will ‘halve’ call-in times

A new division of DTLR’s Planning Directorate has been set up to “slash call-in times by half”.

The Planning Central Casework Division (PCCD) has been created to take on responsibility for Ministerial Planning Casework from 1 April 2002 in a bid to offer “a better customer service to people seeking planning permission”.

The division will be responsible for called-in applications and recovered appeals cases, which amount to around 300 cases each year.

It will be charged with fulfilling the pledge made in the Planning Green Paper of cutting in half the average time taken to issue a decision after the close of a planning inquiry.

A spokesman for the DTLR said: “The Prime Minister and DTLR ministers regard this as one of the Department’s highest priorities. It is crucial in improving our relationship with business and developers.”
