Boots is making plans to offload its car parts retailing arm Halfords even though it has spent millions refurbishing the 400-strong chain.
The group is either to be sold or else given a separate listing on the Stock Exchange by the autumn. Analysts estimate the business to be worth between £350m and £450m.
About 120 of Halfords’ chain have been refurbished, with sales in these stores showing uplifts of 20%.
