The Scottish Executives minister for enterprise, life-long learning and transport Wendy Alexander resigned yesterday.
Alexander, who had built up considerable respect among business groups, gave no reason for her resignation, but it is thought she was dismayed by the burden of her workload and felt isolated in the cabinet.
