Yorkshire Forward plans urban renaissance

Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward has selected a panel of architects and urban designers to advise on the regeneration of Yorkshire & Humberside’s urban centres.

The RDA is spending £1m on design strategies that will reinvent town such as Scarborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, Grimsby, Rotherham and Barnsley as “renaissance towns”.

The panel, selected in consultation with the Commission for Architecture & the Built Environment, includes:

  • Alsop Architects
  • Latham Architects, based in Derby
  • David Lock Associates, which has brought together a team including Roger Tym & Partners, Oscar Faber, Insite Research & Consultancy, Urban Cultures and Drew Mackie Associates
  • Koetter Kim, an urban design and architectural practice based in London and the US
  • West 8, a Rotterdam-based architecture and landscape practice
  • Architectural practice EDAW
  • West Yorkshire-based landscape designer Camlin Lonsdale
  • Urban Initiatives, a London and Dublin-based urban planning, transport and design consultancy
  • Landscape Design Associates.
