Forth Ports is believed to be in talks with nine retail tenants for its £120m mixed-use scheme, Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh.
Tenants thought to be signing for space include Marks & Spencer, for a stand-alone food store, French Connection, Sofa Workshop, Athena, Superdrug, Waterstones, WH Smith and Etam.
Quoting rents for the scheme are £85 per sq ft zone A, compared to over £200 per sq ft on Princes Street – historically Edinburgh’s prime high-street pitch.
Oxford Street retailer Selfridges is still believed to be in talks to take space at Forth Ports’ Waterfront Plaza site, directly opposite Ocean Terminal.
The retailer is targeting a Scottish debut in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
The deals will mark the second letting phase at the waterside scheme, based in the Leith Docks area of the city.
The tenants will join anchors Debenhams and BHS at Ocean Terminal, where 70% of the total floorspace is committed or in solicitors’ hands.
Ocean Terminal provides 230,000 sq ft (21,367 sq m) of shops, 89,000 sq ft (8,268 sq m) of bars and restaurants, a 12-screen Ster Century cinema and 71,000 sq ft (6,596 sq m) of leisure facilities, including the Royal Britannia Visitor Centre.
