Zara chooses Glasgow for Scottish debut

Zara has taken its first store in Scotland at Prudential’s redeveloped Caledonian House on Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

The Spanish fashion retailer will occupy 20,000 sq ft (1,858 sq m) over three floors at an initial rent of £825,000 pa.

Caledonian House will offer two shops with flats above. The other shop is currently being marketed.

Douglas Hogg, of Hamilton Glen, who acted on behalf of the landlord, said: “Everyone has been waiting a long time for Zara to come to the city and we are hopeful that this letting will act as a catalyst to encourage further international retailers to commit to Glasgow also.”

David Harper, of Harper Dennis Hobbs, which is retained by Zara, said: “Zara has been searching for the right site for some time and believes Caledonian House will provide the ideal location for their first secured store north of the border.”
