Fitness First plans to open another 32 clubs by its October 31 year-end taking the number opened during the year to 80.
It will spend a total of £100m on the 80 outlets. It said the market had some way to go before reaching saturation and in London, alone, there was room to increase the number of clubs from 40 to 90.
It said its Just for Ladies chain was capable of growing from seven clubs to “maybe 100”.
