Debenhams has 11 sites lined up with openings running from autumn this year to spring 2006.
Capital expenditure in the current financial year is expected to be £120m, rising to £150m next year as five stores are opened and 11 are modernised. It wants to growth the number of UK stores from 97 to about 150.
Each new store costs about £10m to build. The retailer can take up to four years from identifying a site to opening.
