Leeds chosen for £22m local toll test

The government has announced a £22m test in Leeds next year to look at how to charge drivers who use busy roads.

It is designed to look at the practicalities of local road-user charging rather than a national scheme.

It will test satellite-based systems which could be used nationally as well as roadside sensors. No one will be charged during the pilot.
