Laurel Pub Company, the managed pub business created last year from theWhitbread pub estate, is making plans to expand its 600-strong chain of pubs and bars by 200.
It is set to announce today (Monday) the appointment of John Lovering as chairman as a prelude to an initial public offering within the next year. He is being recruited to lead the expansion.
Laurel was formed by Morgan Grenfell Private Equity as a vehicle for the acquisition of Whitbread’s 3,000-strong pub estate in May last year for £1.6bn. It has since sold 2,400 mainly tenanted pubs.
