Two bidders are eyeing babywear retailer Mothercare following the appointment of incoming CEO Ben Gordon.
Roger Mavity, current CEO of Boxclever, the company formed by the merger of Granada Rentals and Radio Rentals is believed to be looking at Mothercare with the backing of the investment arm of a high street bank.
A rival bid is being prepared by the chairman of clothes retailer Boxfresh David Carter-Johnson.
He is in talks with venture capitalist firm Bridgepoint with a view to making a bid before Christmas.
