North London hotel sold to Lords Group for £5m

London-based hotel company the Lords Group has bought the 105-bedroom hotel Cumberland Hotel, in Harrow, north London, for £5m.

Lords Group bosses Taher and Shabbir Tayeb plan to redevelop the hotel to encompass 150 rooms and enhanced conference facilities.

The group, which owns four hotels in central London, said that it had made the decision to buy the Cumberland because “the proposed development of Wembley will inevitably increase demand for accommodation in North West London.”

The Cumberland, sold by Michael Smith, who owned it for 30 years, will remain under the Great Western brand.

Knight Frank acted for the vendor.
