Storage Solutions has taken a fully assigned lease from troubled internet group Telecity at Manchester’s City Park Solus in Brindley Road.
The large-scale storage provider will occupy the 104,420 sq ft (9,700 sq m) building, which includes 50,205 sq ft (4,664 sq m) of mezzanine space, at a passing rent of £284,628 pa.
Telecom specialist Telecity doubled the size of the warehouse so that it could be used as a data centre after acquiring the building from London & Metropolitan at the end of 2000.
However, Telecity did not end up occupying the building after being hit by the global technology downturn. Storage Solutions now takes over Telecity’s liability.
Rick Davies, from joint leasing agent Knight Frank, said: ”The instruction was seen as a difficult one due to changes in the data/telecommunications market and the limited flexibility of the product that had been tailormade.”
Knight Frank and Chesterton acted jointly for Telecity UK. Storage Solutions acted for themselves.
