RICS red-faced over MRICS exams lists gaffe

The RICS has been forced to apologise to members who took their MRICS exams after it published the wrong pass list in The Times on Friday.

Instead of sending the newspaper a list of all those who had passed, the RICS sent the list of all those who had failed.

The list of over 250 names was published in full in The Register section of The Times, unfortunately still headed “the following have qualified&”.

A spokesman for the RICS admitted that it was “a bit of an embarrassing gaff” and said that apologetic letters were being sent out to all those who had taken the exams.

The RICS will also be publishing a full correction in The Times as soon as possible.

The RICS added that members of the Education Department would not be disciplined for the snafu.

“A lot of eyes have rolled, but so far no heads.

“Next year everything will be double, triple and quadruple checked,” the spokesman added.

He added that the RICS had only been publishing the lists for two years, “so we’ve got a 50% success rate, which isn’t bad”.
