DTZ’s Will Hoy dies aged 50

Touring car champion and DTZ surveyor Will Hoy has died from cancer at the age of 50.

Hoy, a former British Touring Car champion, died at Cromwell Hospital in Chelsea after a three-month battle against a brain tumour.

The father of three only began car racing at the age of 30 and spent five years competing in Japan, where his career took off.

He returned to Britain in 1991 and won the touring car championship that year.

He leaves his wife and three children, Ellie, 12, Olivia, 10, and Freddie, seven. He is survived by his parents Mary and Tony and his brother James.

A small private funeral was held on Tuesday and a memorial service is to be held in February at a date and venue still to be announced.
