Archie Cowan, one of the biggest names in West End agency, has quit Knight Frank (KF) to run Lambert Smith Hamptons (LSH) central London division.
Cowan, a partner at KF, will take up a position on LSHs operating board and be responsible for all agency and professional work inside the M25.
As head of West End agency at Knight Frank, Cowan helped steer the department to the top of the agency rankings – based on volume of transactions.
KF is advising on almost all of the big West End schemes, including British Lands 350 Regents Place, Chelsfields Paddington Basin and Grosvenors Belgrave House in Victoria.
By contrast LSH, which has a strong presence in the regions, has never really cracked the central London market.
Cowan has been with KF for 10 years.
He said: “LSH is well known for the strength of its UK network but this is a great opportunity to build the current central London team into a major market force.”
LSH chief executive Chris Boulton added: “We will be looking to strengthen the team under Archie’s leadership.”
KF has reacted by promoting Tim Robinson to head of West End offices, reporting to equity partner John Snow, head of central London offices.
