Ballymore’s planned redevelopment of a four-acre (1.16ha) site next to Birmingham’s Snow Hill Station has been given the go-ahead.
The £200m scheme will comprise 720,000 sq ft (66,888 sq m) of offices in two 11-storey buildings, along with 200 flats in a 15-storey block and 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) of shops.
It will also include a new public plaza with bars and restaurants.
The site, currently used as a car park, has been derelict since the 1970s, when it was cleared to make way for a series of pedestrian underpasses.
It is one of seven sites that were bought by Ballymore from Hammerson, which had acquired them from Railtrack as part of a 24-site portfolio.
Sidell Gibson is the architect on the scheme.
