Dixons Group is pushing ahead with the sale of a further 27 High Street stores, making a total of 76 shops currently on the market. The retailer’s latest strategy confirms the group’s intention to reposition out of town.
Property director Martin Meech stressed: “These are good-quality stores – they’re not underperforming – and they’re located all over the country.”
All the properties are leasehold, and they are available through Conrad Ritblat for assigning or subletting. Meech added that he expects to attract premiums for some of the best stores, although incentives may be offered for others.
“Of our 25 worst stores, Conrad Ritblat has already sold 20 – and we had to give incentives for some,” said Meech.
But he added: “This shows that at the right price there is a market.”
