Broadwell tie up Wandsworth deal

Broadwell Land have tied up a deal with Wandsworth council in which the developers are to buy the Feathers Wharf site for £5.15m and create 90,000 sq ft of commercial and residential space.

The scheme will comprise a workshop studio, live/work units, a restaurant, pub and the re-establishment of the Wandle Creek boatyard. A planning application will be made later this summer when Broadwell have completed the acquisition of small landholdings adjacent to the site.

The deal with the local authority entails the council retaining the freehold of the boatyard and receiving 25% of the profits from the scheme.

This is the second riverside project for the company in the south London borough. They are already undertaking the 750,000-sq ft Plantation Wharf scheme next to Wandsworth Bridge.

Commenting on the Feathers Wharf deal with Broadwell, Wandsworth’s borough valuer, Carl Powell, said: “Broadwell won the competition with a scheme that excited the imagination in the way it met our needs for homes, amenity and employment generation.”
