Etafield of Harlow are marketing a software package for estate agents, called “Nomad”, which they claim helps organise management functions as well as improving the service to clients (or in their words — the client interface!). The software has been written to run on a Future FX30 microcomputer and the total system costs from £6,900 including computer, printer and installation.
In addition to access to client information, Etafield profess that Nomad provides management functions which are tailor-made for estate agency purposes. These include the storage of standard letters, word-processing features, updated financial information on sales and a “quick match” facility. However, my view is that most good agency packages provide these as standard. Nevertheless, Nomad does offer one interesting feature, in that there is a lock-out facility, which automatically prevents anyone from having access to the program after a week, if a spare copy of all the current information on it has not been made during the previous seven days. It also issues a reminder to perform this stand-by security function whenever the system is closed down.
