Helical eager for more Thames Valley action

by Marc Lopatin

Helical Bar is to develop a £30m office scheme in the Thames Valley after buying a site from BG Properties (formerly British Gas) at Goswell Road, Windsor.

The site already has consent to develop offices although Helical Bar hopes to enlarge the scheme by bringing in adjoining land that it bought last year for a 7,432m2 (80,000sq ft) office scheme with 300 parking spaces.

Commenting on the deal, Matthew Bonning-Snook, development executive at Helical Bar, said: “This is the only significant office development opportunity likely to be available in Windsor for many years.”

The move strengthens Helical Bar’s presence in the Thames Valley region where it already has an office scheme in progress at the former Cliffords Dairy site, Bracknell. It has a third scheme in the western corridor at Watchmoor Park in Camberley.

Weatherall Green & Smith acted for B G Properties, while Helical Bar was unrepresented, although Knight Frank has been appointed as sole letting agent.

Subject to consent, Helical has also agreed the purchase of Serco’s 2.43ha (6 acre) site on Hayes Road, near Heathrow Airport. The property company has lodged a detailed planning application to develop a 10,296m2 (110,825 sq ft) industrial scheme.

Richard Ellis has been appointed as letting agent.
