Fight to save Broomhill pool from developers

Supporters of Broomhill Open Air Pool in Ipswich are trying to stop the council selling it to a developer.

It is among about 40 modernist lidos in Britain that remain, most of which do not have a secure future.

Broomhill residents are tying to get Lottery funding to bolster the £3m or so that sits in the council’s provisional 10-year budget for the pool.

Another, Droitwich Lido, which closed two years ago, is likely to re-open as a spa complex via a joint venture with German company Calypso.
