Debenhams to anchor £200m Glasgow Pollok scheme

Debenhams will anchor the £200m regeneration of Pollok town centre, near Glasgow.

The department store chain has taken a 125,000 sq ft (11,613 sq m) prelet
at Retail Property Holdings’ (RPH) 1m sq ft (92,900 sq m) scheme.

RPH will transform the existing Pollok town centre and adjoining derelict land, adjacent to junction 2 of the M77.

Regeneration plans include 850,000 sq ft (78,965 sq m) of retail, plus leisure and public amenities, a new motorway interchange and public transport hub.

Tesco last year signed for a 140,000 sq ft (13,006 sq m) store, and Marks & Spencer and John Lewis are battling to become the third anchor in a 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m) store.

The scheme won outline consent last November and is due to open in 2007.
