Gittisham villagers have agreed to set up a working party to explore ways of buying the 27 houses which owner Richard Marker has given them three months to quit so he can sell them.
Reverend Richard Saunders, a tenant of the Combe Estate, in, Devon, which includes the village, held prayers at the local church for those who face losing their rented homes.
The 27 properties have a total estimated value of £7m.
