Capital projects profit falls to £5.9m at Alfred McAlpine

Interim profits at Alfred McAlpine’s capital projects division have fallen from £7.2m to £5.9m.

The division handles construction of buildings and infrastructure projects.

A £1m charge relating to the dispute with Sir Robert McAlpine over the McAlpine name further depressed the overall results as did its utilities services business. It is looking for bolt-on takeovers of up to £20m.

The national newspapers report different figures this morning for the group’s pre-tax profits. The Financial Times says these fell from £12.2m to £9.2m. The Times, to £9.5m and The Independent reports they fell 8% to £13.6m.
