Cardiff-based Seel & Co had its biggest auction yet last week when more than £1.2m of property was sold.
Auctioneer Mansell Edmunds said that demand was good “across the board”.
“The room was absolutely packed and we sold approximately 90%,” he said.
The biggest surprise of the day was a decommissioned electrical substation in Taffs Fall Road, Pontypridd, offered by a private client with no reserve, which made a staggering £44,500.
A leasehold terraced house in Edmondstown Road, Tonypandy, held on a 99-year lease from 1905, was also offered at nil reserve but was knocked down for £8,500.
“We were astounded when it sold for that sort of money as we reckoned it might have made only £9,000 to £10,000 if it was freehold,” said Edmunds.
