Plans for a 45-storey skyscraper in Bristol’s city centre have been scaled back because of concerns about the city’s skyline.
The move to reduce the tower to 32 storeys and 110m from the planned 152m was also prompted by the vulnerability of tall buildings following the 11 September terrorist attacks in America.
Codenamed Project 360, the £80m tower will be located on the Grosvenor Hotel site at Temple Gate.
The scheme’s architect, Martin Pease, said: “The redevelopment of this site has been talked about for 10 years.”
A 10-storey building with a roof garden linked by a 15m-high glass atrium will be built beside the skyscraper.
