Land Securities’ plans for the Eastern Quarry site in the heart of the Thames Gateway – which it acquired through its takeover of Whitecliff Properties in 2001 – have been submitted to Kent council.
The masterplan for the next phase of the regeneration of Kent Thameside, drafted by Bluewater designer Eric Kuhne, proposes 7,250 homes, up to 3m sq ft of commercial, retail and leisure buildings centred on five “villages”, as well as more than 200 acres of open space.
The 740-acre Eastern Quarry site is part of the 57km2 Kent Thameside area between Dartford and Gravesend. LandSec is one of a number of landowners that are expected to deliver 10m sq ft of business space and 30,000 homes over 25 years.
