The Prince of Wales’ Phoenix Trust has asked architect John McAslan & Partners to look into possible uses for a derelict sugar warehouse in Greenock in Scotland.
The Grade A listed, eight-storey warehouse built between 1884 and 1886, is one of Scotland’s exemplary examples of industrial architecture.
The Trust, working in partnership with Inverclyde council, Scottish Enterprise Renfrewshire and the building’s owner, Clydeport, wants McAslan to investigate whether the 200,000 sq ft (18,680 sq m) structure can be re-used.
DTZ Pieda Consulting has also been commissioned as development appraisal consultant.
