Asda is expected to announce plans for new stores and extensions within the next couple of days.
It is expected to say it will spend about £360m on new outlets, store extensions and mezzanine floors. It is considering mezzanine floors for up to 40 outlets.
The company could also provide an update on its plans for Safeway.
