Over 13,000 delegates from 61 countries have decended on Cannes in the south of France this week for Mipim 2003.
Although the numbers are down on last year, when the French resort town was host to just under 14,000 delegates, organiser Reed Midem is expecting a good week.
Since its foundation 14 years ago the conference has experienced the ups and downs of the market, from boom to recession and back again. And the general mood is that this year’s conference will again reflect a troubled market.
One UK developer said: “There are a lot fewer grand plans being unveiled this year, and fewer delegates to unveil them.”
But statistics from the Reed Midem office show that the UK is still dominating the conference, with more companies represented than any other country, and more delegates than any country except France.
