Ikea has suffered a further blow to its UK expansion plans as secretary of state John
Prescott last week called in a 70,000 sq ft proposed extension to its Nottingham store.
Prescott called in the application on the grounds that Ikea had not looked at splitting up its big-box stores into smaller high street shops.
Ikea property manager Scott Cordrey said Ikea was relying temporarily on a £50m store extension programme to expand its UK retail activities.
