Greenwich Borough Council’s planning board has approved plans to turn the Millennium Dome into a sporting and entertainment centre with the regeneration of the surrounding area.
The matter will now pass to London mayor Ken Livingstone who wants to see more affordable homes in the development, which will include offices, shops, a hotel and school.
He has 14 days to veto the Dome proposals. But the final decision rests with the government later this year.
