HLS could seize animal rights group HQ

Huntingdon Life Sciences has secured a court order giving notice that it might seek to seize Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty’s (Shac) headquarters in Evesham, Worcestershire.

The Cambridge laboratory is trying to recoup the costs of applying for High Court injunctions against protestors following attacks on workers and vandalism of their property.

Huntingdon’s solicitors could start the process of applying for an order of sale against the Shac head office, at 6 Boat Lane. The building is the home of Lynn Sawyer, a midwife, who says HLS is trying to make her homeless. She says she is no longer involved with the organisation but it is used as a mailing address, according to Shac. A decision will be made next month whether to make the order final.
