Wragge & Co adds to real estate practice

Solicitor Wragge & Co has recruited two City lawyers to strengthen its national commercial development and investment team.

The company’s 28-partner real estate group has hired senior solicitor Clare Regan, formerly of Nabarro Nathanson, and associate David Sanson from magic circle firm Clifford Chance.

Head of real estate, Adrian Bland, said: “Real estate is one of Wragge & Co’s most important practice areas. Lateral hires must have the technical, commercial and client-handling skills to complement our practice and its vision.

“David and Clare are fine examples of these requirements in action. They have excellent track records in handling complex matters for high-profile clients, and I am very pleased to welcome them to the firm.”

After qualifying in 1995, Sanson joined Clifford Chance’s real estate funds and investment banking group in 1999. A specialist in real estate funds, his experience includes advising Warner Estate Holdings plc on establishing the £223m Agora Shopping Centre Fund.

He will be based at Wragge & Co’s London office, working with commercial development partner Peter Thorne.

Regan, who has joined the Birmingham commercial development and investment team under partners Mark Chester and Mark Dakeyne, previously worked in Nabarro Nathanson’s London office, advising Great Portland Estates plc, Haslemere Estates plc, British Land plc and Land Securities plc.

She said: “Wragge & Co’s real estate group is one of the strongest in the country, with a great track record in big deals and a formidable reputation, particularly in the West Midlands market. I am very excited about being part of this real estate powerhouse.”

Highlights this year for the 149-strong real estate group include advising GKN on the property aspects of the £1bn disposal of its stake in AgustaWestland and working with Marks & Spencer on the redevelopment of its Baker Street headquarters. Other clients include Castlemore, ProLogis and St Modwen.
