Royal Doulton’s production at Nile Street, Stoke-on-Trent, will be relocated to Waterford Wedgewood’s Barlaston plant if the latter’s £40m bid for the company succeeds.
Royal Doulton had earlier earmarked the Nile Street plant for closure, envisaged for next March.
Both companies have had to close factories over the past five years to counter a dramatic sales downturn.
