Summary results of consultation not expected till next year

The summary results of the e-conveyancing consultation, which were initially expected to be published this autumn, will not be available until the New Year.

A spokesperson from the Land Registy indicated that the results had taken longer to compile than anticipated, due to the “volume and quality of the responses to the consultation”. The summary response is expected to finalised by mid-February 2003.

Despite the long delay in providing the preliminary results, it is expected that the full consultation report will still be published, as scheduled, in spring 2003.

The consultation paper was issued by the Lord Chancellor on 28 May 2002, in order to obtain comments on the Land Registrys ideas for a re-engineered conveyancing system. The consultation period closed on 30 August 2002.
